The Governor’s Appointments Office is currently accepting applications for appointments to the Florida Board of Athletic Training. The Board was established to ensure that every athletic trainer practicing in Florida meets minimum requirements for safe practice. The Board is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining, and educating athletic trainers, and when appropriate, rehabilitating licensees to ensure competency and safety to practice in Florida.

The Florida Board of Athletic Training plays a leading role in the ever-changing health care environment through dialogue with the public, the legislature, academia, and the community. The Board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Five members of the Board must be Florida licensed athletic trainers in good standing. One member must be a Florida licensed chiropractic physician, one member must be a Florida licensed physician or osteopathic physician, and two members of the Board must be consumer members. Consumer members are residents of Florida, who have never worked as an athletic trainer, with no financial interest in the practice of athletic training, and who have never been a licensed health care practitioner as defined in section 456.001(4), Florida Statutes. Applications for all appointments are being accepted for consideration.
